About the Division / Team
Our Hunter Valley network primarily services the Hunter Valley coal chain - the world's largest thermal coal export operation - by providing an efficient and reliable rail transportation system between mines and the Port of Newcastle. We manage the movement of around 250 trains per day on our network. Around half of these being coal trains and the other half comprised of passenger services, as well as grain, general intermodal, and other bulk freight trains.
About the Opportunity
Build ARTC's reputation by effectively managing and supporting the community and stakeholder engagement needs of the Hunter Valley business unit as well as leading the response on local community and stakeholder matters, concerns and information requests relating to the business.
The position will be offered as a 13-month fixed term contract and will require the success applicant to be willing to travel throughout the Hunter Valley and Central Northwest region as required.
- Assist in the development and implementation of a Community Engagement plan.
- Community liaison and the investigation and resolution of queries and complaints including proactive identification of community issues that may require further attention.
- Preparation of event management materials including coordination and participation in face-to-face engagement activities such as Steamfest and AgQuip.
- Coordinate works notifications for closedowns and manage the notification delivery contractor.
- Support the development, preparation and presentation of project communication materials and other stakeholder communications as required.
- Identify and manage local community focused partnerships in line with the 2024/25 Hunter Valley community sponsorship program.
- Develop and deliver Community Engagement plans for local projects such as level crossing safety, heritage and corridor beautification works.
About You
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
- Sound proven experience in a community and or stakeholder relations role in a community relation, or stakeholder engagement facing role.
- Experience in writing and preparing communications materials, with the ability to write for a variety of audiences.
- Experience and knowledge of delivering with Community Engagement frameworks.
- Computer skills with knowledge of relevant analysis and management tools with an ability to learn and apply new tools.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, conflict resolution and negotiating abilities.
- Ability to work independently within a supportive team.
- Class C Driver's Licence.
