Chandler Macleod is currently recruiting for a EL2 Senior Manager Community Engagementto join a Federal Government Agency on a 6-month contract with the potential for extension and located in Sydney.
About the role
The Agency is a newly established independent Australian Government Corporate Commonwealth entity responsible for overseeing the development of a high-speed rail network along the east coast of Australia. This includes providing policy and planning advice and recommendations to the Australian Government and undertaking research and evaluation in relation to a high-speed rail network and corridor along the east coast.
Purpose of role
We are looking for an EL2 Senior Manager Communications to join the newly established Communication and Stakeholder Management team.
The primary purpose of the role is to manage the implementation of communication activities to support community relations initiatives at a project level and to ensure effective coordination of community consultation between key external stakeholders. The role will engage with and manage issues around affected individuals, businesses and communities.
The role collaborates across the Communication and Engagement team to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to government agency and senior stakeholder relationships, media, issues management and marketing within the projects.
Key responsibilities
As the Senior Manager Communications you will provide communications and stakeholder engagement support for the operation of the Agency. As part of the role you will:
- Lead the implementation of a range of Community Engagement plans in line with organisational requirements to ensure stakeholders are consulted at appropriate points in the project, are provided with up to date information and have a clear understanding of the project’s objectives and benefits
- Work collaborative across the Communication and Engagement Group to ensure a coordinated and consistent approach to government and senior stakeholder relationships, media, issues management and marketing within the projects
- Lead the delivery of a range of communications activities for internal and external audiences to support communication objectives for the project
- Coordinate the ongoing evaluation of communication programs and key messages and develop tailored campaigns and communication materials as required
- Manage the identification of risks associated with Community Engagement aspects of the project and lead the development and implementation of appropriate strategies and controls to minimise risk
- Build and sustain relationships with a network of key internal and external stakeholders, working towards mutually beneficial outcomes in order to facilitate and foster their involvement in the development of project activities
Knowledge and Skills
- We are looking for a candidate who will excel in a dynamic work environment and would enjoy the challenge of working on a high profile project. Responsibilities and duties are consistent with the Australian Public Service Work Level Standards. Ideal candidates must have:
- A minimum of 10 years experience working on major infrastructure projects
- A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience in Communications, public relations, media, and journalism
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills including the ability liaise with staff and stakeholders at all levels and across multiple institutions
- Experience and demonstrated knowledge of communications in a government or political context.
- Sound project management skills to achieve work goals and to meet planned targets, deadlines, and commitments with minimal supervision
