About the role 

This full-time permanent Community Grants Coordinator position is part of the Community Development Program where the team pride themselves on listening and working with local people and groups to help respond to and action community priorities.  The program delivers Community Grants, community health & wellbeing programs and community development initiatives to create a city where everyone feels they belong and can contribute.

Your position as Community Grants Coordinator will be a pivotal role leading the grants team to ensure successful delivery of Council grants and funding.  This will include strategic oversight and delivery of policies, procedures, customer service, community capacity building and reporting.

This is a challenging role, but one which is extremely rewarding.  The support you provide will significantly help our local community and provide a positive contribution.

Some of the Key Position Responsibilities include: 

  • Effectively manage and lead the Community Grants team, including change management, mentoring, recruitment, training and professional development for employees.
  • Implement, review and continually improve the operation of Council's grants and funding programs in line with community and corporate priorities and outcomes.
  • Liaise regularly with Councillors and executive leaders, providing strategic advice and support
  • Write complex reports and present professional recommendations to Council’s senior leadership
  • Monitor, evaluate and identify gaps in service provision and develop solutions and strategies that address needs
  • Champion a cohesive team approach where knowledge is shared, there is a commitment to continuous improvement and self-development is embraced

Skills, qualifications and capabilities required:

  • Extensive knowledge and proven skills in grants management.
  • Well-developed leadership skills with exposure to leading cohesive and productive teams.
  • Knowledge and experience working with legislation, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate persuasively.
  • Ability to consult with a wide range of people at all levels of Council, and foster collaboration and cooperation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to initiate process improvements and innovative solutions.
  • Strong project management and organisation skills with a demonstrated ability to develop plans, coordinate actions, gain cooperation and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
  • Strong time management, work prioritisation and organisation skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Current ‘C’ class drivers license.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours when required.
