Status: Full Time Fixed Term (until 31 December 2024)
Salary: $80,693 - $100,867 p.a. (pro rata) + 11% superannuation contribution

Apunipima Cape York Health Council is a community controlled Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health service, which provides culturally appropriate, family centred, primary health care services to the communities and people of Cape York.
About the opportunity
An exciting opportunity has become available for two Community Nutritionists, focused on remote food security.
The roles are based in Cairns but travelling to the 11 different Cape York communities, under the Gather and Grow Project. The Gather and Grow project is a collaboration between Apunipima and Health and Wellbeing Queensland that seeks to engage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in identifying community priorities and implementing community actions to improve food security in Cape York.
This position will work as part of the Nutrition team to meet key deliverables of the project as well as work towards greater goals for the department and organisation.
Pre-employment screening for vaccination against Vaccine Preventable Diseases will be conducted for the successful applicant.
About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in Nutrition and/or Dietetics at a Bachelor or post-graduate level
- One to two year experience working in nutrition or dietetics
- Experience in planning, implementing and evaluating multi-strategy community nutrition interventions that engage multiple sectors using health promotion frameworks is highly desirable
- An understanding of effective strategies to influence the wider environment affecting food supply and eating behaviour.
- An understanding of nutrition issues relevant to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island people living in remote communities
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and exercise independent judgement on routine matters
- Understanding of the historical and contemporary issues that impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities, particularly in Cape Yorks
- Current Queensland Drivers Licence
- Current Blue Card positive notice or exemption, or willing and able to obtain prior to commencement
