Alchemy Recruitment Consulting is working with local government to secure a Compliance Support Officer for this 10-month opportunity. The position is also responsible for ensuring compliance with Councils Local Laws, State and other legislation, primarily relating to regulated parking and animal registration compliance while providing investigative, enforcement, and administrative services to the Compliance Support Team within the Compliance Services Unit.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct proactive and reactive investigations into parking and other vehicle related breaches relevant to Council's Local Laws and State legislation.
- Collect evidence, take photographs, prepare statements, compliance notices, letters, briefing notes and other written communication in order to substantiate enforcement action and decisions.
- Issue penalty infringement notices for offences relating to breaches of Council's Local Laws and State legislation while providing clear, consistent advice and direction to customers, demonstrating transparency, integrity and sound judgment.
Essential Requirements:
- Developed knowledge in the interpretation and application of Local Laws and other legislation, including: Local Government Act 2009, Transport Operations (Road Use Management) Act 1995 and Regulation, Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008, Council's Local Laws No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Waste Reduction and Recycling Act 2011 Demonstrated knowledge of current legislation, frameworks, principles and practices in ethics and integrity, ideally in a State or Local Government context.
- Experience in undertaking lower level investigations, and the ability to determine the appropriate education or enforcement response. Developed research, evidence gathering, assessment and analytical skills that permit effective identification of breaches of legislation
- Demonstrated ability and physical fitness to perform a range of strenuous tasks and functions for prolonged periods of time.
