Key accountabilities
- Safely complete carpentry trade activities, including completing safety checks on all plant used, basic maintenance such as refueling and checking fluid, and maintaining records and reports to ensure the safe use of plant items.
- Perform a wide range of routine and complex laboring/ manual tasks, including using a variety of small plant and powered and non-powered hand tools to assist with the completion of work activities. Work is completed under limited supervision and may be done independently in a team environment.
- Participate in team meetings, planning and activities to support continuous improvement and achieve work goals. Solve routine problems that arise, refer to standard guidelines and manuals, and collaborate with supervisors and managers to resolve complex problems to minimize risks and achieve work goals.
- Provide guidance to team members, including apprentices/trainees, leading the work output of a small unit as required, to develop capability and ensure team tasks are completed effectively.
- Understand and maintain knowledge of WHS legislation, policies and procedures, assessing and controlling risks, record management and industry requirements to minimize risk and model safe work behavior's.
- Understand and follow environmental procedures, including identifying and reporting environmental hazards, rectifying simple hazards without direction, selecting work methods that minimize environmental risk, and applying appropriate control techniques to prevent environmental damage. Understand and apply the correct procedures concerning disposal of waste materials and equipment to ensure legislative, business and operational requirements are met.
- Understand and complete work activities to quality specifications by following established procedures, performing measurements to confirm quality both during and on completion of work, comparing results to engineering plans or specifications and completing reports to ensure tasks are completed correctly.

Key knowledge and experience Construction Carpenter Grade 1
- Relevant industry experience. Construction Carpenter Grade 2
- At least 12 months experience in a Construction Carpenter Grade 1 or equivalent experience in bridge maintenance and construction. Essential requirements
- Carpentry License/Trade Certificate – Certificate III in Carpentry or equivalent.
- Current Construction Industry White Card.
- Current unrestricted NSW motor vehicle driver’s license.
- Willingness to undertake any legislated or internal licensing or ticketing requirements as directed
- Formwork & Falcework tickets required
