W Hotel’s work culture is uniquely designed to spark your imagination and curiosity while bringing the W experience to life for guests.W Sydney is now casting for a Carpenter/Handyperson to facilitate repairs and maintenance to support the engineering operations, reporting to the Assistant Director of Engineering.The Carpenter’s primary responsibilities include assisting Engineering management in executing strategies that maintain the building, contents and grounds with particular attention towards fire life safety, security and asset protection. The position performs scheduled preventative maintenance in guest rooms, meeting rooms, and public spaces as required, including repairs to furniture, fixtures and equipment. Carry out maintenance tasks in accordance with the property room preventative maintenance procedures and standard guidelines. Perform repairs to doors, hardware repairs and replacement. Respond to maintenance on hotel equipment and assets as required and miscellaneous repairs on joinery and cabinetry. Report any serious maintenance problems, unusual findings, or safety hazards immediately to the manager/supervisor.Supports objectives outlined in the Engineering Business Plan and delivers services that meet and exceed the needs of guests and enable business success. Ensures compliance with applicable laws, regulations and HIDs (standard operating procedures).To be a successful Carpenter you will possess strong prioritization skills, exceptional problem-solving skills, a flair for culture, be creative, thinking out of the box constantly, highly organized, and have an exceptional inter-personal skill.BENEFITS

Talent ProfileEducation & Experience Required

• Carpentry Certificate III.
• Experience in hospitality engineering/facilities advantageous.
• Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, and attention to detail.
• EWP license advantageous.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Carries out urgent and non-urgent maintenance requests.
• Supports the engineering team day to day operations.
• Supports and drives improved guest experiences.
• Performs repairs on furniture, fixtures and equipment.
• Repairs doors and hardware and replacement.
• Repair joinery and cabinetry.
• Works on preventative maintenance programs.
• Monitor stock levels of critical spares.
• Carry out preventative maintenance tasks.
• Drive synergies with key departments and stakeholders.
• Supports and innovates energy, water and waste conservation programs.
