Job description

Hours can be filled as sessional, full time or part time. Hours are negotiable.

We are looking for Addiction Medicine Consultants or a psychiatrist with qualification in Addiction Medicine or an addiction psychiatrist with qualification in Addiction Medicine or an advanced trainee in Addiction Medicine

These positions will contribute to develop the new service Addiction Prevention and Treatment Service. This is the first integrated addiction and mental health service in a public hospital in Western Australia. The service entails outpatient clinics open 7 days a week over extended hours and manages AOD and behavioural addiction including gaming and gambling. It is multidisciplinary and it is governed by addiction psychiatry and Addiction Medicine specialists.

The Addiction Medicine Consultant leads the multidisciplinary team to provide specialist medical services to patients at Fiona Stanley Hospital. The Consultant promotes patient safety and quality of care. You will provide leadership, orientation, training, supervision and education, where relevant, for doctors in training and other health workers. In collaboration with the Head of Department and other Consultants, you will work to achieve national, state and South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) performance standards and targets. Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
