Albany Health Campus currently has 1x Full-Time permanent position for immediate appointment.
This is a Recruitment Pool to fill Various (Casual, Sessional, Part-Time, and Full-Time) Permanent or Fixed Term appointments. Fixed Term appointments include the possibility of extension(s) and/or permanency.
Remuneration package Year 1 – 9 $375,863 - $477,340 per annum**
**(Salary as per WA Health System Medical Practitioners AMA Industrial Agreement 2022: Salary is inclusive of base salary as part of Arrangement A $306,689 – $398,110 per annum, $31,926 per annum professional development allowance, 11% employer contributed superannuation). This is subject to the assessment of clinical skills and years of practice.

About Great Southern - The Albany Health Campus -Emergency Department
Albany Health Campus is the Regional Resource Centre for the Great Southern. The Emergency Department sees approximately 33,000 attendances per annum and is staffed by a combination of FACEMs, Senior Medical Practitioners, Registrars, Residents, Interns and Nurse Practitioners. The department features 2 resuscitation bays, 8 treatment bays, an isolation room, a 4-bed observation ward and a fast-track area. The department sees a whole range of presentations including Major Trauma and Paediatrics. There is a High Dependency Unit staffed by Intensivists on a FIFO basis.
The new Hospital opened in May 2013 and provides modern facilities with a full range of laboratory and imaging services. The department is also supported by a multitude of visiting and other locally based specialists.
About the role
We are seeking a Consultant-Emergency Medicine who will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive clinical service in Emergency Medicine to Patients of WA Country Health Service- Great Southern and the leadership of the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive emergency services to patients of the Albany Health Campus. Promotes patient quality and safety within the emergency department. Provides leadership, management, training, supervision and education for Senior Medical Practitioners, Interns, Resident Medical Officers, and Registrars in collaboration with the Director of Medical Services.
About the Great Southern Region
The Great Southern region, located south-east of Perth, covers an area of approximately 87,000 square kilometres and has a population of about 80,000 people.
The regional centre is the historic port town of Albany, which has one of the best natural anchorages in the southern hemisphere. Other centres include Denmark, a popular coastal holiday town, as well as the agricultural centres of Katanning and Mount Barker. The Great Southern is a burgeoning area of Western Australia, combining as it does a spectacular coastline that sweeps into quiet coves and protected inlets with a lush interior that has proved a perfect growth area for viticulture with a growing reputation in cool climate premium wine production. The oceans here provide food and protected waters for dolphins, seals and whales whilst the rural areas of the region have become a focus for lovers of gourmet foods.
Albany has a good range of shops including Woolworths, Coles, IGA and Bunnings. It also has a cinema, lots of eateries, hotels and pubs. On a more cultural level there is an excellent town theatre for movies and stage shows and art galleries with regular exhibitions. Albany offers excellent sporting facilities, the Leisure and Aquatic Centre which consists of two heated pools. The centre also boasts two large stadiums housing a total of seven indoor courts used through the year by badminton, basketball, netball, roller-skating, indoor soccer, tennis and volleyball players alike. Centennial Park Sporting Precinct consists of four main sporting precincts. The sporting grounds within these precincts are utilised by different user groups depending on the sporting season at that time.
Albany has 17 primary schools and 4 secondary schools. Tertiary education exists through the Albany regional centre of The University of Western Australia and Great Southern TAFEWA.
