EMERGENCY MEDICINE CONSULTANT | WESTERN AUSTRALIA | Up to $451,677

Challis Recruitment is currently recruiting for our Clients in Western Australia for an Emergency Medicine Specialist to join their team.

The Role:

In this role you will be responsible for the provision of a comprehensive clinical service in Emergency Medicine to Patients of WA Country Health Service  and the leadership of the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive emergency services to patients of the Health Campus. You will promote patient quality and safety within the emergency department and offer leadership, management, training, supervision and education for Senior Medical Practitioners, Interns, Resident Medical Officers and Registrars in collaboration with the Director of Medical Services.

Suitable candidates must be eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA), a Fellow of the Australasian College for Emergency medicine or equivalent and possess substantial postgraduate medical experience in Emergency Medicine and hospital practice. Have demonstrated commitment to effective management of clinical risk and improving quality. You should also have developed high level of communication, interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to work effectively, lead in a team environment and show commitment to continuing education.

The Hospital:

The Country Health Service is the largest country health system in Australia and one of the biggest in the world, providing health services to over half a million people, over a vast two and a half million square kilometres area.

The Country Health Service hospitals handle almost as many births as the State’s major maternity hospital – and 40% of the State’s emergency presentations. The range of health services provided include acute inpatient and emergency care, population and public health, mental health, aged care and includes increasing number of services provided by telehealth video-conferencing.

The Hospital is a 90 bed inpatient facility. The hospital is comprised of the following units: Emergency Department; Children’s Ward; Mental Health Inpatient Unit; Surgical Unit; Day Ward; Special Care Unit; Dialysis Unit; Maternity Ward; Operating Suite and TSSU; Specialist Outpatient Suites.

The Location:

The hospital is located in the heart of Western Australia’s region - Australia’s gold capital. With a population of more than 30,000, the city is a dynamic and sophisticated regional centre. There are ten primary schools, four secondary schools, University and TAFE facilities.

Climate:. The city’s weather is exceptional throughout most of the year, which allows both residents and tourists plenty of opportunities to take advantage of the great outdoors.

Entertainment: The city has a vibrant social atmosphere and entertainment venues include restaurants, cafes, numerous hotels, the Arts Centre and a modern cinema complex.

Recreation: Sport and recreation play a vital role in the city and there are a multitude of quality sporting and recreational facilities. There are many parks and ovals and the Oasis Centre, which includes a 50 metre indoor swimming pool, gymnasium and multiple indoor sporting facilities, is recognised as one of the best regional sporting venues in Australia. There are two Golf clubs, a bowling Club, and an extensive array of sports including; water polo, motor sports, gliding, tennis, football, hockey and netball.

Educational Facilities: There are 9 primary schools (three private) and 4 secondary schools (two private) conveniently located in the city. Tertiary educational opportunities are to be found through the Vocational Training and Education Centre (including enrolled nursing) and the Western Australian School of Mines, both linked to Curtin University.

Educational Facilities: There are five primary schools in the region, two secondary schools and a TAFE.
