Consultant/Specialist Internal Medicine

The Role:
We are seeking Consultant/Specialist General Physicians – General Medicine to work in a large General Medicine department, servicing approx. 100 inpatients/day, outpatient clinics and a remote outreach service.
The position is ideal for candidates with fellowship in General and Acute Care Medicine. However, consideration will also be given to applicants with a strong background in General Medicine who hold fellowship in a different specialty.

Key duties and responsibilities

• Provision of consultant ward service to a General Medical Unit
• Supervision, teaching and support of junior medical officers (Advanced Trainee, Basic Physician Trainee, Resident Medical Officer, Interns, medical students).
• Attendance at regular Departmental Meetings (GACM Consultant Meeting, Mortality & Morbidity, Journal Club, Radiology Meeting).

A wide range of specialist services include Emergency Medicine, Anaesthetics, Intensive Care and Coronary Care, acute medical and surgical, Rehabilitation, Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Mental Health.

Skills & Qualifications required:
AHPRA Specialist registration with FRACP in General and Acute Care Medicine. Consideration will be given to applicants with fellowship in another specialty if they can demonstrate proven equivalent skills and experience in General Medicine.
