The City Projects team is a multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for delivering Council’s City Projects program on time, on budget and to a high standard.
About the Role
The Contracts Manager responsibility is to provide high-level contract management functions for Bayside Council.
The role is responsible for the programming and implementation of all City Projects Team projects and Capital Works programs; budget control, engaging consultants and contractors; managing and responding to contractual or commercial risks; cost estimates; variation assessments, progress claim assessments and reviewing building contracts, plans and specifications.
You can also expect to:
- Evaluate, review and audit contractor compliance for contracts, plans, designs and specifications and identify, report and manage non-conformance.
- Provide project management advice in relation to Council’s City Projects Program, including interpreting and advising on complex regulatory and legislative requirements.
- Engage and consult with stakeholders to identify their requirements and use this information to enable organisational direction, strategy and action.
- Manage contract administration on AS4902-2000, AS4000 contracts and GC-21 contracts, focusing on quality project outcomes and continuous improvement activities.
- Promote the positive and collaborative culture and values of the organisation through open, fair and transparent decision making and ethical, professional behaviour.
- Identifying and resolving issues related to service delivery, administration, evaluation and continuous improvement of systems and processes.
- Managing multi-disciplinary projects, in a politically sensitive arena and balancing community expectations with Council obligations and other government and stakeholder expectations.
About You
We are looking for an industrious individual with the following:
- Tertiary qualifications and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Recent experience in the letting of consultant agreements including RfQs, RfT and EoLs for design consultants and Contractors.
- Extensive experience in a Contract Administrator and/or Contract Manager role, exposure to Tier 1 or 2 Main Contractors highly regarded
- Knowledge and experience in administering AS-4000, GC-21 and similar contracts
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge across a number of functional areas within relevant field, including project management; procurement and contract management; and building construction or civil engineering.
- Current Driver’s Licence Class C.
