The Opportunity
As the Control Systems Engineer, you are the responsible subject matter expert for programmable logic Control Systems and engineering changes that impact Control Systems within the project to our customer. You are responsible for identification and qualification of technical issues and risks associated with programmable logic Control Systems.
You will work with a range of stakeholders to determine requirements and factors that influence problem scope in order to develop and deliver safe and compliant solutions to our customer as part of a multidisciplinary team.
As the Control Systems Engineer, you will perform tasks under general supervision; and independently evaluate and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgement during execution of activities. Engineering tasks involve conventional engineering practice, but may include a variety of complex features related to conflicting requirements, systems integration, unsuitable materials and coordination of stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Provide subject matter expertise on programmable logic Control Systems within the scope delegated by the Principle Engineer.
- Provide guidance, technical leadership, advice and direction to support the customer and the business unit on Control Systems.
- Conduct technical investigations and risk assessments IAW ANP3411-0010 on Control Systems within the limits of delegation.
- Develop requirements and tasking statements.
- Review engineering design deliverables and provide critical design reviews.
- Conduct engineering assurance on deliverables that are compliant to certification baseline, SOLAS, Class requirements and other standards.
- Perform verification and validation assurance activities on Control Systems.
- Liaise with a range of stakeholders internal and external within a multidisciplinary team to achieve engineering change management and configuration management.
- Deliver Control Systems Engineering assurance IAW Engineering management plans, process and best practice within the Naval Technical Regulatory Framework
- Perform Design Acceptance Representative (DAR) services.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Electrical, Electronic or related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a related industry or similar position.
- Eligible to obtain a Suitably Qualified Experience Personnel (SQEP) delegation within an Authorised Engineering Organisation (AEO).
- Eligible for International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) clearance on relevant ship systems.
- Eligible to obtain a Negative Vetting 1 (NV1) Security Clearance.
Desirable
- Experience in design of programmable logic Control Systems.
- Experience in integration of programmable logic Control Systems into plant or equipment.
- Experience in Defence Industry.
- Experience in Marine Engineering.
- Eligible for membership of a recognized professional body and registration as Chartered Engineer.
