An exciting specialist opportunity exists for a suitably qualified engineer or experienced electrical maintenance technician that is seeking to consolidate their skills in process Control Systems!
In this site-based role primarily located at our Wagerup Alumina Refinery, you will work alongside our process control technical team that form part of the Alcoa Honeywell Alliance – a strategic program known as QUASAR (Quality Automation Solutions in Alumina Refining) that provides a standard operational control system environment to our 7 Refineries worldwide.
As our Control Systems Specialist, you will be responsible for the maintenance of existing systems whilst providing rapid problem resolution and technical advice that will ensure Alcoa’s global process control strategies are integrated to refinery’s plans, project implementations, and support activities.
Additionally, you will also be accountable for:
Providing a long-term control system plan for the site and interface with engineering and application service providers to ensure individual project needs and feasible system solutions are aligned to the plan.
Acting as the ‘Alcoa Responsible Person’ safety contact for site contracted services and providing effective communication for safety incidents and any associated follow-up or escalation.
Performing system administration, modifications for the Control Systems, and providing technical support to engineers, maintenance, and users.
Tracking and reporting project and support metrics, whilst performing compliance tasks and corrective actions together with the other Site Team members.
Approval of the technical acceptance of control system Infrastructure documentation on behalf of the Refinery.
Providing after hour’s rostered coverage to respond to any critical process systems incidents and ensure system recovery.
About you
To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
Tertiary qualifications in either Electrical / Process Engineering or have an Electrical trade with experience in maintaining Control Systems.
Strong product knowledge of Honeywell Process Control Systems.
Bayer Process knowledge would be considered desirable.
Strong computer literacy and extensive use of Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).
A consultative approach, an analytical mind, and well-honed problem-solving skills
An ability to work in a systematic, structured, and efficient manner.
Communication and relationship building skills that will make an impact, work collaboratively with key peers and customers.
Current WA drivers’ licence.
