  • Full - time, Fixed term contract for 6 months. 
  • $105,697.70 per annum plus Super

As Coordinator of Campaigns and Media, you will be responsible for leading a team of communications specialists to deliver strategic communications campaigns to raise awareness and inform the community about Council services, programs, projects, initiatives, and events

This role also oversees Council's media and issues management and works closely with the Manager of Strategic Communication & Advocacy, Mayor and Senior Leadership Team.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading and motivating a team of communications specialists to develop and deliver communications campaigns that enhance the profile of Council and the City.
  • Developing an annual strategic communications plan.
  • Identifying opportunities for the Mayor, including the coordination of speeches and engagements.  
  • Overseeing the strategic communication and promotion of Council's capital works program. 
  • Developing high-level narratives, ensuring strong and consistent key messaging across all strategic communications activities.
  • Providing senior-level advice across the organisation, in particular to the Mayor, Councillors and Senior Leadership Team, to ensure that Council's communications activities.

The skills and experience you'll bring to the role:

  • Management of digital channels and social media accounts.
  • Ability to research, write and edit communication materials for a wide range of mediums and audiences.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and managing a corporate identity to ensure an organisation is portrayed consistently and perceived positively by target groups.
  • Ability to lead, manage, motivate, and develop a team in effective and industry-leading strategic communications and stakeholder management.
  • Maintaining knowledge of and working within Organisation Policies and Procedures including WHS, EEO and Code of Conduct.
  • Ability to gain cooperation and assistance from people with diverse backgrounds and cultures, both within and external to the organisation, to achieve the objectives of this position.
  • Ability to develop and implement a departmental annual operations plan, service review and budget.
  • Ability to oversee programs of work with exceptional project management skills and experience working on complex communications projects.  

Required Certifications & Qualifications:

  • Qualifications or demonstrated experience in communications, public relations or marketing or a similar field.
  • Significant experience in the planning, development, execution, and evaluation of integrated communications strategies.
  • A strong understanding of local, state, and federal government and experience working in a political environment.
