Coordinator – Governance & Executive Services

Location:  Tamworth, NSW

THE OPPORTUNITY

  • Exciting opportunity to take up a pivotal role reporting to the Executive Manager - Strategy & Performance
  • Deliver key governance and legislative obligations ensuring sound governance practices are in place and adhered to, providing advice, developing policies, and delivering governance projects
  • Lead a team of executive support and administration professionals providing exceptional executive support to the Executive Manager - Strategy & Performance and Councillors

Reporting directly to the Executive Manager - Strategy & Performance, and leading a team of administration professionals, the Coordinator, Governance & Executive Services will hold key responsibility for:

  • Coordinating a range of governance related activities including Council’s delegations and legislative compliance databases
  • Managing the General Policy Register including conflicts of interest disclosures
  • Coordinating the review and maintenance of Council's Operational Policy Register
  • Effective delivery of the Council business paper, Council meeting cycle and administrative support provision (noting that the successful appointee will be required to attend Council meetings outside of normal business hours)
  • Coordinating Councillor briefings and workshops
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of a small team of executive support and administration professionals
  • Ensuring high quality executive support services are provided to the Executive Manager - Strategy & Performance and Councillors

The successful appointee will bring to this position the following:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Governance, Business, Business Administration or other relevant experience
  • Strong understanding of Council meeting procedures and Councillor protocols
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders
  • Strong capacity to interpret a broad range of legislation, regulations and Acts relevant to a Government or private enterprise environment
  • Experience leading a team of professionals is desirable, but not essential

Salary range: Grade 19 - $105,071.99 - $113,697.11 per annum (plus superannuation) for a 35 hour work week. Salary may be negotiated based on skills, experience and your value to our organisation.

Flexible working arrangements will be considered by mutual agreement and according to operational requirements.
