The Role
Make a difference in our community!

We have an exciting opportunity in this newly structured team to head up a team of generalist equity, health, and social planning functions. This unit will work across a breadth of portfolios and develop organisational responses to improve outcomes for community.

You will lead the team in planning for a variety of responses within Local Government remit and with partners in regards to Gender Equity, Prevention of Violence against Women, Homelessness and Housing, Community Safety, Disability, Community Participation and Leadership, LGBTQIA+, Gambling Harm Minimisation, Financial Vulnerability, Food Insecurity and Healthy Eating.

You will lead the ongoing development of an integrated approach to the Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing Plan and Disability Action Plan development within Council’s integrated Planning Framework.

You will work with a newly forming team and Department to establish a new and innovative way of working, build positive team connections and build excitement for the journey ahead.

Through working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders you will generate a cohesive and impactful approach to bettering outcomes for our community.

About you
You will have a passion for building strong communities, working with partners, championing initiatives, activities, and campaigns to pioneer change, and a strengths-based lens. You will also have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in health promotion, public health, social sciences, public policy, or other relevant discipline including at least 5 years’ experience in a relevant role.
  • Specialist knowledge of current relevant federal and state policy frameworks and demonstrated experience in developing and implementing relevant legislated plans
  • Specialist knowledge and understanding of impacts to the health and wellbeing of diverse growing communities
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work with internal and external partners.
  • An innovative mindset and the passion to develop new ways of responding to issues and building strong communities,
  • Proven experience in people leadership and the ability to champion a new way of working under this new model.
