- Salary commencing at $121,802 per annum (pro rata) plus 11% superannuation, commensurate with skills and experience

The Opportunity
This leadership role will see you overseeing the development and implementation of Council's Strategic Planning Program, including the application of innovative and integrated land use planning and development approaches. Reporting to the Manager City Futures, you will lead a team of professional officers to plan for land use and development in Moonee Valley in line with our strategy, MV2040, to ensure a 20-minute neighbourhood approach can be realised. This includes land use planning that protects and enhances residential amenity, assists economic growth and meets social objectives to achieve a vibrant community.
Responsibilities
- Provide Strategic Planning and policy advice on issues that affect Moonee Valley and the greater metropolitan area.
- Promote and develop and understanding of urban development and environment issues within Council and the wider community.
- Provide day-to-day management of the Strategic Planning team.
- Ensure the team's budget is effectively and efficiently managed.
- Support the Manager City Futures and Director Strategy and Planning as required.
Skills & Experience
- Degree or post graduate qualification in planning or related field is essential, with substantial experience working within the Strategic Planning field or other relevant field that demonstrates a deep understanding of Strategic Planning principles.
- Demonstrated understanding of the principles and practices of integrated planning for environmental, social and economic development.
- Demonstrated capacity to manage conflict in public forums and settings.
- Experience in the preparation of and presentation of submissions/reports in a variety of forums.
- Demonstrated understanding of government processes and relevant legislation.
