Coordinator – Student Projects
- Support students at the Rural Clinical School to plan and complete an independent capstone research/professional practice project
- Provide assistance to research and academic staff at the Rural Clinical School
- Full-time fixed-term (to 30 June 2026) based in Burnie with the possibility of extension subject to ongoing funding
About the opportunity
We are seeking to appoint a Coordinator of student Projects at the Rural Clinical School (RCS) in the Tasmanian School of Medicine within the College of Health and Medicine.
The Coordinator – RCS student Projects plays an important role in collaboration with project leads and academics in supporting students to plan and successfully complete student professional projects.
Medical students are based at the Rural Clinical School for their clinical years but from 2025 they can study all five years of the course.
The Doctor of Medicine (MD) component of the Bachelor of Medical Science or Doctor of Medicine degree requires students to successfully complete a capstone research/professional practice project across years 4 and 5 of the degree.
What you’ll do:
- Coordinate and monitor student progress with Projects at the Rural Clinical School
- Work in collaboration with project leads, academics and the Director of the Rural Clinical School to ensure students projects are successfully completed
- Support the development of local research projects including assisting with project plans and ethics applications
- Provide guidance and support for systematic literature reviews
- Provide support for the preparation of project or research papers for publication or presentation
What we’re looking for:
- A relevant degree / qualification in relevant discipline; with subsequent relevant experience (minimum two years) or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education / training
- Previous experience in using research methodology, data collation and research management
- Experience with the preparation of research documents and peer-reviewed publications
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to communicate effectively
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Salary details
Appointment to this role will be at HEO 6 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $110,273 comprising base salary within the range of $86,918 to $94,250 plus 17% superannuation.
