About the Position
In this role, you will lead the Monash Sustainability team to deliver climate action and sustainability outcomes, create the Zero Net Carbon Action Plan 2025 to mitigate climate change impacts, embed sustainability into Council procurement and processes, foster urban biodiversity and promote energy efficiency and water sensitive urban design.
Skills and Experience
- Extensive professional knowledge of sustainability concepts and principles, including social, economic and environmental factors.
- High level, effective interpersonal and communication skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills, to guide and influence others, lead, motivate and develop staff.
- Ability to generate creative and innovative approaches in problem solving and generating outcomes to meet Council strategic directions.
- Ability to actively promote excellent customer service through personal leadership, mentoring and the performance assessment and development of staff and a strong commitment to improving service delivery.
Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental management, sustainability or a closely related field
- Extensive experience in a leadership role, preferably in a Local Government environment and in sustainability
- Current Driver's Licence
- Employee Working with Children’s Check
- Satisfactory National Police Check
- Other pre-employment checks may be required depending on the role requirements.
