Job description

The Australian Kookaburra Kids Foundation (Kookaburra Kids) is an innovative, growing not-for-profit organization, providing exceptional early intervention and prevention services and support, to young people living in families impacted by mental illness.

Reporting to the CEO, this new full-time role of Corporate and Government Partnerships Manager is responsible for:

  • Identifying prospects and securing high level, multi-year partnerships (greater than $50,000 pa) to achieve target.
  • Ensuring that partners derive genuine value from their relationship with Kookaburra Kids. 
  • Managing all aspects of relationship management, delivery of contractual obligations, tailoring benefits to fulfil agreements, including day-to-day communications with partners. 
  • Working closely with the CEO and with other teams within Kookaburra Kids to ensure the smooth coordination of proposals, reporting and acquittals.  
  • Providing high level support for all government and corporate partnership enquiries and managing selected individual relationships from the portfolio. 

Key Responsibilities:

In this key role, your responsibilities would include:

  • Implement long-term and project-based sponsorship and business development strategies to meet Kookaburra Kids goals for cash and in-kind sponsorship and to attract and retain key, long-term government and corporate partners. 
  • Deliver day to day account management of partner relationships and take the lead in managing a selection of current government and corporate partner agreements. 
  • Manage benefit delivery, tracking of benefits and support partners to leverage all available to them via their agreement. 
  • Work with internal Kookaburra Kids teams to ensure delivery of complex, large-scale deliverables across the organisation. 
  • Ensure documentation meets organisational, legislative and funding requirements. 
  • Ensuring service is provided in accordance with requirements of the Children and Young Persons (Care and Protection) Act, Family Law Act, Privacy Act and legislative codes of conduct. 
  • Review policies, procedures and work practices and make suggestions for change to support our continuous organisation wide improvement.
  • Embrace a safety culture including client risk reporting, hazard and incident reporting. 
  • Embrace our safeguarding children's practices and create environments where the safety and wellbeing of children and young people is at the centre of our thoughts, values and actions.

Qualifications, Experience and Knowledge

  • Diploma level or other related qualification or demonstrated experience. 
  • Have a passion for fundraising and driving partnerships to deliver financial support.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in business development, sponsorship or partnership management, preferably within a not-for-profit context, with a successful track record of securing funding agreements greater than $50,0000 and in the delivery of partnership benefits.
  • Significant fundraising credentials with proven track record of achieving strategic and operational objectives.
  • A broad understanding of contemporary fundraising practice and the nonprofit sector, as well as an understanding of and commitment to philanthropy.
  • Proven excellence in project management working to tight deadlines.

  • Problem-solving skills, which are solutions focused.
  • Maintain a current satisfactory check for working with young people, as per the relevant State/Territory legislation.
  • Maintain a current and satisfactory National Police Check.
  • Maintain a driver’s license and have access to own vehicle.
  • Maintain eligibility to work in Australia.
  • Participate in performance reviews and professional development planning.
  • Ability and willingness to travel and work before and after hours (including weekends and evenings) as requested.
