About the role
The Corporate Health and Safety Principal based in our Perth CBD office, is responsible for technical guidance on Health and Safety systems and supporting the Company’s projects, including Yangibana and other strategic initiatives in the Hastings portfolio. This role will provide Health and Safety leadership and mentorship to site.
Key activities will include:
- Develop and implement Hastings Health and Safety Management Systems Framework, including policies, standards, and procedures.
- Develop an audit framework for the Health and Safety Management System and associated policies, standards, and procedures.
- Lead the Health and Safety component of the Critical Risk Management Program, including facilitating bowtie/risk workshops.
- Provide technical support and guidance on health, safety and emergency management and response requirements.
- Develop and support site team to implement the mine safety management system requirements, including key plans and procedures.
- Lead, implement and execute Health and Safety auditing program for construction and operational readiness.
- Prepare and submit Health and Safety documentation relevant to regulatory requirements.
- Oversee that all incidents are investigated, and root causes identified. This may include leading safety investigations, when required.
- Develop, implement and lead the In-Field Interaction Program at site and ensure full implementation of all requirements.
- Ensure communication and consultation methods are available and implemented.
- Own and manage injury management/workers compensation requirements
- Ensure training records are maintained in the Company training record/LMS system, including site inductions.
- Manage INX InControl and InTuition, including capacity-building across the Company.
- Advise on Contractor HSEMS prequalification and contract selection requirements, to manage contractor Health and Safety risks aligned with Company expectations.
Key outcomes for the role:
- Advocate Health and Safety leadership and company-wide awareness, consistent with the Hastings vision, values and culture.
- Enable the right systems, plans tools and procedures to help the Company successfully manage Health and Safety risks.
- Ensure a fit-for-purpose Health and Safety management system that is commensurate with the Company’s development stage, yet adaptable to be future-proofed.
- Ensure legislation and company policies and standards are adhered to, including good industry practice.
About You
- Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety or other relevant discipline.
- Training and Assessment qualification (desirable).
- Lead Auditor qualifications in Health and Safety.
- Relevant Health and Safety experience within the resources industry.
- Trained and experienced in conducting incident investigations.
- Strong leadership and problem solving skills.
- Able to create positive relations with peers and stakeholders.
- Previous experience in training and coaching.
