About Us

With a clear focus on developing the world-class Yangibana Rare Earths Project, Hastings Technology Metals is well-positioned to become Australia’s next rare earths producer.

Located 250km north-east of Carnarvon, Hastings’ flagship Yangibana Project is underpinned by a high-quality deposit of neodymium and praseodymium (NdPr) with an initial mine life of 17 years.

The Yangibana project is well-timed to meet the supply gap for rare earth elements driven by the growth in electric vehicles and wind turbines vital for the global energy transition. This is an exciting opportunity to play a role in Australia’s green energy future.

Join a high-performing team led by our values: Passion, Tenacity, Teamwork and Owner’s Mindset.

About the role

  • Develop and support site team to implement the mine safety management system requirements, including key plans and procedures.
  • Lead, implement and execute Health and Safety auditing program for construction and operational readiness.
  • Prepare and submit Health and Safety documentation relevant to regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee that all incidents are investigated, and root causes identified. This may include leading safety investigations, when required.
  • Develop, implement and lead the In-Field Interaction Program at site and ensure full implementation of all requirements.
  • Ensure communication and consultation methods are available and implemented.
  • Own and manage injury management/workers compensation requirements
  • Ensure training records are maintained in the Company training record/LMS system, including site inductions.
  • Manage INX InControl and InTuition, including capacity-building across the Company.
  • Advise on Contractor HSEMS prequalification and contract selection requirements, to manage contractor Health and Safety risks aligned with Company expectations.

Key outcomes for the role:

  • Advocate Health and Safety leadership and company-wide awareness, consistent with the Hastings vision, values and culture.
  • Enable the right systems, plans tools and procedures to help the Company successfully manage Health and Safety risks.
  • Ensure a fit-for-purpose Health and Safety management system that is commensurate with the Company’s development stage, yet adaptable to be future-proofed.
  • Ensure legislation and company policies and standards are adhered to, including good industry practice.

About You

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety or other relevant discipline.
  • Training and Assessment qualification (desirable).
  • Lead Auditor qualifications in Health and Safety.
  • Relevant Health and Safety experience within the resources industry.
  • Trained and experienced in conducting incident investigations.
  • Strong leadership and problem solving skills.
  • Able to create positive relations with peers and stakeholders.
