As we aim to enhance our product lineup and maintain our reputation for quality, we seek a motivated Formulation Assistant to join our team.
Job Position
The Formulation Assistant will be an integral part of our team, working closly with our sales team and customers. This role involves a blend of technical and organisational responsibilities, including ingredient procurement, assisting in developing new formulations and supporting the lab's day-to-day operations. The ideal candidate will be a collaborative team member eager to contribute to creating skincare and haircare solutions.
Responsibilities
- Ingredient Procurement: Efficiently manage the sourcing and ordering of high-quality ingredients, maintaining strong relationships with suppliers and ensuring timely delivery to meet project timelines.
- Formulation Assistance: Support the Team in the development of new skincare and haircare formulations, including weighing, mixing, and conducting preliminary stability tests.
- Lab Organization: Maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment, ensuring that all materials and equipment are properly stored and ready for use.
- Documentation: Assist in the documentation of formulation processes, including recording detailed notes on ingredient quantities, batch formulations, and test results to ensure accuracy and compliance. Write Formulation breakdowns, Specifications and Methods of Manufacture for new formulations.
- Product Testing Support: Aid in the execution of product testing procedures, such as pH testing, viscosity checks, and sensory evaluations, to ensure product quality and consistency.
- Research Support: Conduct literature reviews and research on new ingredients, technologies, and industry trends to support innovation and improvement in product development.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety and regulatory guidelines in the lab, including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemicals and formulation ingredients. Maintain standards in the laboratory, with adherence to GLP (General Laboratory Practices).
Skills/Experience/Attributes
- Relevant qualifications in cosmetic formulation or related.
- Experienced formulating cosmetics, haircare or skincare.
- Reformulate existing formulations to address stability and regulatory issues, ensuring products meet quality and compliance standards.
- Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
- High levels of attention to detail.
- Good computer literacy including Microsoft Office
- Independent and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
