About the role
Based in the Brisbane office and reporting to the Cost Control Team leader, this position will be joining the Onshore Upstream Project Services Team supporting operations across South Australia, Queensland, and New South Wales. It is accountable for overseeing day to day cost control activities and providing input into monthly forecasts; analysing, trending, and reporting on cost performance, and working with key stakeholders to identify high value opportunities. This position offers broad exposure within an operator’s project delivery framework and the chance to refine and develop a skillset in all facets of cost control and broader project services, whilst being directly mentored and supported.
Key accountabilities include:
- Undertaking monthly cost control activities including estimate to complete/estimate at completion analysis, trending, accruals, cost variance analysis, commitment reviews, earned value and progress measurement
- Ensuring the integrity of financial data for projects supported, enabling timely and accurate cost recognition, allocation, and reporting
- Contributing directly to annual budget and monthly/quarterly forecast cycles for department(s) supported, in line with Finance requirements
- Producing simple, relevant, and insightful reports, highlighting trends, risks and opportunities for fast and effective decision making
- Reviewing/approving purchase orders and processing payment claims, ensuring alignment with approved budget
- Management of project creation and project set up, ensuring alignment with the Company Work Breakdown Structure and Basis of Estimate
- Building relationships with key internal stakeholders to ensure understanding and alignment across budget, scope, and execution outcomes
- Contributing directly to the maintenance, development and improvement of cost control processes and procedures
- Providing ad-hoc reporting and analysis as required
About you
You will be experienced in:
- Performing analysis, providing insight and recommending solutions to achieve best practice
- Excellent computing, analytical and numerical skills, with a heightened attention to detail
- Expertise in various proprietary computing systems and applications; Prism G2 (or similar) and SAP financials is highly advantageous; in addition to Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Visio and Microsoft PowerPoint
- Ideally, you will be degree qualified in Accounting, Business, Finance or Engineering
- Major industry experience (oil and gas, mining etc.) will be highly regarded
- Your strategic view, collaborative nature, and ability to build and maintain relationships with a variety of stakeholders will aid in your success in this role
