About the Role
The Project Controls Specialist is a key member of the project team and develops, manages, integrates, coordinates and reviews all cost, schedule and contract performance data. The Project Controls Specialist will produce valuable management information for consumption by the project leadership team.
We are looking for dynamic individuals to join our current and upcoming portfolio of projects with a mixture of Brisbane-based, WFH, client-office, and FIFO work assignments on offer.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, Finance, Commercial, Project Management or similar equivalent
- 3 to 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in Project Controls within the mining, resources and infrastructure sectors
- Must have unrestricted rights to work within Australia
- Exposure to project control systems such as P6, MS Project, Prism, iTwo CostX, Ineight, CCS Candy, PowerBI, Aconex are beneficial
- Analytical, attention to detail, personable and able to solve complex problems with creativity and innovation
- Must be proficient in using the full Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint, MS Teams)
- Registration with AIQS is preferred but not essential
Tasks & Responsibilities
- Prepare deliverable-based and logical work breakdown structures to encompass the entire project scope and facilitate project planning, execution and control.
- Cost estimating, budgeting, forecasting and management of the financial resources through engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning phases of the project, using the application of agreed cost plans, cost control systems and management procedures during implementation and execution.
- Management and monitoring contract commitments and purchase orders for the procurement of construction contracts and client supplied items.
- Planning and scheduling using best practice tools and techniques to provide stakeholders with reliable information regarding the current and projected future schedule status of the project.
- Management of project changes by identifying and communicating early warning of events, deviations, trends and change in conditions that will likely have an impact on project scope, schedule or cost.
- Prepare accurate and timely Project Controls reports on a daily, weekly and monthly basis including the application of earned value principles for reporting on project CPI and SPI.
- Ensuring all tasks are completed in compliance with the commercial governance requirements including the application of project policies, processes and procedures.
- Required to respond to project inquiries, present information, read documents/materials, resolve conflicts, problem solve, facilitate meetings and co-ordinate activities with all project stakeholders
- Required to act independently and with a high degree of accuracy, integrity and accountability, as part of a team, interacting with co-workers, contractors, and superiors in a confidential and professional manner.
- Working Conditions: - Combination of office and work-from-home work location - Exposure to deadlines, multiple demands, distractions/interruptions - Periodic travel to construction sites - High pressure project environment and frequent conflicts to resolve
