About the role
The Pines Respite Cottage Lead (RN) provides clinical oversight of clients at our newest Respite Cottage in Netley. This position works directly with the Respite Team to ensure clients services, care and engagement are planned, aligned and delivered with consideration to a client's competency, capability and dignity of risk.
The Cottage Site Lead (RN) will complete client initial assessments, client care plans reviews, respond to client incidents and provide best practice clinical advice on issues that occur day to day in the service. In addition, as an active member of the Respite Team, they will support the daily needs of clients across a range of engaging lifestyle activities.
Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- translating the successful Southern Cross Care Health & Wellness Respite model of care to this new cottage,
- delivering high quality, meaningfully engaging services to clients that is aligned to client competency, focused on reablement, wellness and engagement.
- completing comprehensive, person-centred clinical assessments, scheduled and urgent client care plan reviews.
- using evidence based, best practice to work alongside and to support the respite assistants to ensure clients health, medication, continence, exercise and engagement needs requirements are met.
- working as part of a multi-disciplinary team and engaging in case conferencing to proactively support clients to access appropriate services.

The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Nursing (or Masters) with current registration with AHPRA as an allied health professional or Registered Nurse.
- Certification in Dementia Care is desirable.
- Demonstrated experience of 5 or more years working within the Aged Care Industry, including experience using community aged care systems and processes.
- Clinical expertise in working with community dwelling older adults with changed behaviours and complex needs including experience with case management.
- Instrument and activity of daily living engagement skills specific to complex clients.
- Ability to provide leadership in the management of community aged care staff and services to a range of client groups.
- Demonstrated competency with current aged care service, acts and programs and an awareness of current best practice models of care.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work within a team and to relate with all levels of staff, client, carers, internal and external stakeholders.
- Proficient computer and keyboard skills and the ability to use Google Suite and various in-house databases.
