As a Credit Officer, you will be part of a larger credit team but will manage two ledgers independently. Your responsibilities include the timely collection of all customer credit accounts within agreed payment terms, in accordance with the company's credit policy and procedures, minimizing risk and reducing aged debt.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage the onboarding of new customers through the credit application process and ensure timely completion of all related tasks.
- Enforce the credit hold policy and handle delinquent debtors accordingly.
- Work independently and as part of a team, offering assistance to colleagues when needed.
- Cross-train in banking/allocations to provide backup support.
- Manage customer disputes preventing payment, liaising with internal and external stakeholders for resolution.
- Weekly management of the Aged Debtors ledger.
- Produce overdue reports with detailed comments by monthly deadlines.
- Prepare account reconciliations and ensure proper documentation is provided.
- Oversee the credit application process for new customers, including credit agency reporting and trade references.
- Escalate disputes/non-payments to the credit manager when necessary.
- Prepare end-of-month debtor reporting for ledger reviews.
What we are looking for:
The preferred candidate should have over 2 years of experience, with previous solid experience in Full Function Credit Control considered essential. They should also demonstrate the ability to read an Equifax report and make risk assessments.
Additionally, the ideal candidate will be customer-focused, with excellent communication skills and a strong attention to detail. They should also possess proficient data processing skills.
