Solicitor position in Criminal Law (Up to 2 years PAE )
Job Description
Kiki Kyriacou Lawyers is seeking an energetic, self-motivated and committed lawyer to join our small Criminal Law practice in Sydney CBD. Our practice consists of one principal lawyer and a practice manager.
We are offering a full-time position for an immediate start.
The position will include the following duties:
- Preparing and summarising briefs of evidence.
- Assist in instructing counsel at court.
- Providing advice and representation to a diverse client base.
- Appearing in court in all criminal jurisdictions both in the Sydney metro and beyond.
- Prepare court/legal documents.
- Drafting correspondence to clients and to other stakeholders.
- Liaising with clients in conferences both in custody and face to face.
- Efficiently undertaken legal research as required.
Essential criteria:
- High level written communication skills including ability to prepare court documents, maintain file notes, summarising evidence, taking notes during trials, drafting correspondence to both clients and other stakeholders.
- High level interpersonal communication skills including ability to liaise with clients from diverse backgrounds, government departments, the judiciary, police, barristers and other key stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated as well as under supervision and able to take instructions.
- Experience and ability to develop professional client relationships and an understanding of meeting client expectations.
- Strong time management and organisational skills and ability to prioritise competing priorities.
- A willingness to ensure that work is completed when required.
