Your new role As a Criminal Lawyer based in Launceston, Tasmania, you will provide exceptional legal advice and representation in criminal matters. Your role will also include participating in community legal education and supporting various law reform initiatives. Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting casework for criminal and other legal matters.
Representing clients in court, including the Magistrates Court and potentially the Supreme Court, depending on your level of experience.
Leading and participating in community legal education projects.
Providing mentorship to junior lawyers, applicable for more senior level positions.
Ensuring effective collaboration with various community and legal organisations.
What you'll need to succeed To be successful in this role, you will need to be admitted or eligible for admission as a legal practitioner in Tasmania and have a current registration to work with vulnerable people. Required qualifications and attributes include:
2+ years PQE.
Advocacy experience in the Magistrates Court, with advanced casework experience being essential for senior levels.
Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
Competency in MS Office and the ability to quickly learn new software systems.
