The successful candidates will be required to lead a small team of farm hands, be hands on and operate large John Deere Green tractors, utilising Green Star automation. This role is not suitable for candidates who do not have experience operating these machines or previous experience in broadacre cropping.
This is an ongoing, permanent opportunity and is not suitable for backpackers or candidates seeking short term work.
Key Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Aggregation Manager, you will assist with:
- Overseeing daily operations and ensuring the efficient management of the cropping business
- Developing and implementing crop plans, monitoring crop health and managing harvests
- Leading and supervising farm hands to ensure a safe and productive environment
- Establishing crops including bed preparation, fertilising, sowing and cultivation
- Crop management including herbicide and pesticide application
- Operating broadacre farming plant and equipment including airseeder, precision planter, self-propelled spray unit and other farming equipment
- Maintaining plant and equipment
- General farm duties including fencing and repairs and maintenance
- Meeting work health and safety requirements
Requirements
- You will have relevant experience in the broadacre cropping sector
- You will have proven leadership experience and strong organisational skills
- You will have experience operating John Deere Green tractors and Green Star automation
- You will have excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- You will have experience preparing and distributing agricultural chemicals
- You will be physically fit, with a good level of general fitness to meet the physically demanding requirements of the role
- You will hold a current driver's licence
- You will carry out your work as directed in a precise, safe and sensible manner
- You will be comfortable living on a remote property with work hours that may vary to meet operational demands and weather conditions
- A positive, can-do attitude is essential
Benefits
- An annual base salary between $90,000 - $100,000 p.a., based on your skills and experience
