The Dieri Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC (TDAC) is looking for a Cultural Heritage Project Officer with extensive experience in Aboriginal Cultural knowledge to ensure the Corporation can deliver Culturally appropriate outcomes. The role will support the effectiveness of the CEO’s office, and as such will interact with the TDAC Board, Members and External Parties by using initiative and resourcefulness to undertake a wide variety of high-level functions and tasks associated with strategic leadership.
SCOPE:
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (or their delegate), the Cultural Heritage Project Officer role is to lead and facilitate Cultural Heritage Projects, ensuring the delivery of culturally appropriate outcomes in alignment with the goals and objectives of The Dieri Aboriginal Corporation RNTBC.
THE CULTURAL HERITAGE OFFICER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:
- Implementing the Cultural Heritage Action Plan
- Obtaining and appropriate Storage of Culturally sensitive material.
- Maintaining comprehensive records and database of Cultural Heritage resources.
- Ensuring the proper cataloguing and documentation of artifacts and historical sites are accurately recorded.
- Managing the Keeping Place Database (storage database for Cultural Heritage information)
- Capturing the Dieri Language and co-ordinating Language Workshops for Dieri members.
- Working with Dieri Elders to capture stories.
- Identify and list identified Cultural sites – Development of Dieri Cultural Mapping resource.
- Working closely with and providing Administrative support to the Health Country Plan Working Group.
- The Key contact person for the future Ranger Program.
- Working with third parties as it relates to Heritage Survey’s and Cultural Clearances (WAC’s), including the specialised Anthropologist, Archeologist and WAC Field Crew members.
- Working closely with the Implementation Project Officer for identified Heritage Survey’s and Cultural Clearances.
- Working with Mining Companies regarding safe guarding Cultural sites.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Cultural Heritage Management, Archaeology, Anthropology, history, or a related field, would be a plus.
- Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations related to Cultural Heritage preservation.
- Cultural sensitivity and understanding.
- Experience in project management and community engagement.
- Strong research, communication (verbal and written), and organisational skills.
- Proficiency in Office Software and Systems (Microsoft Office, Scheduling software, etc.).
- Experience in a not for profit organization.
DESIRABLE:
- Experience working with Aboriginal people and Communities (preferred)
- Must have a current Drivers Licence
- National Police Clearance Check is required
