We are looking for a Curatorial and Research Officer to join our team at some of Tasmania's premier cultural heritage sites – Port Arthur, Coal Mines and Cascades Female Factory Historic Sites. The Curatorial and Research Officer will provide Curatorial and Research support across the Interpretation and Experience division. The role will work both within teams and independently to research, design, and develop content for a wide range of outputs.
Duties- Assist with research and development of interpretation, exhibitions, public programs, education programs, and online content.
- Undertake the development of research bodies to inform the work of the I&E Division into the future
- Writing in accessible language for public outcomes including exhibition text, tour scripts, social media and other written forms.
- Contribute to strategic planning activities for the three sites.
- Liaise and collaborate with relevant stakeholders to ensure activities and goals are aligned.
- Assist in coordination of specific interpretation and experience projects.
- Contribute to a robust documentation process to future proof for any future changes/edits/reprints etc
- Citizenship or residency requirements
- Working with vulnerable people check
- Driver’s licence
- Experience researching and writing content for interpretation within a museum/gallery/historic site context
- Experience working with museum collection/archive databases
