Role Summary
The position works with other Research Officers within the Parliamentary Research Service, which is part of the Parliamentary Library to provide support to Parliament across varied portfolio areas:
- Economics, Commerce and Industrial Relations
- Law
- Politics and Public Administration
- Social Policy, Health and Education
- Science, Technology, Environment and Resources, and
- Statistics
Employees of the Parliamentary Research Service are required to provide professional advice and services to all Members of Parliament without favour or prejudice.
The service is staffed by research analysts with relevant degrees, some at post-graduate level.

The Parliament of Tasmania is a meeting place where elected representatives meet to make laws, authorise the expenditure of public funds, scrutinise the government of the day, and give a voice to their constituents in the electorates. The Parliament is made up of three (3) separate entities consisting of House of Assembly, Legislative Council, and Legislature General.

We want to hear from you if you have
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications with post-graduate or other relevant research/analysis experience.
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills including strong reasoning skills.
- Ability to work consistently with precision and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and sound judgement.
- Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills and the proven capacity to work autonomously and as part of a team.
- Excellent time management skills including a demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritise, plan and organise work, exercise initiative, and appropriately apply judgement to ensure delivery to deadlines.
- Ability to work flexible hours to support organisational needs.
- Have or be able to obtain a national police check.
