About the positionJoin our Community Connections team to shape and maintain the Library's rich collection of Community History resources and ensuring seamless accessibility for our customers. Dive into coordinating our Family History volunteer enquiry service and make a significant contribution to Library Customer Services by supervising shifts on the lively Library floor. Your role promises a blend of community interaction and resource curation!
Key responsibilities are:
- Develop and maintain a collection development framework to provide relevance and usage of Community History Collection
- Curate Community History collection and preserve historically significant physical documents and photos, including digitisation of documents to make them accessible through the library’s online systems
- Provide a professional research service for Community History enquiries, including coordination of Family History and Community History volunteer services
- Encourage community connection with the Community History collection, including working with relevant stakeholder groups.

Candidates must be available to work one Sunday each month.About you
To be successful you must possess a sound knowledge of:
- the principles of historical conservation and preservation or archiving or cataloguing, physical and digital preservation techniques
- the significance of community connection with matters of local history
You will have the ability to demonstrate: - innovative thinking and a practical approach to problem solving and negotiation
- sound supervisory skills and direction of staff and volunteers in a customer service setting
- communication techniques tailored to a variety of audiences, such as stakeholders, customers, volunteers, library and council staff.
The successful candidate must have a current DHS Working with Children check or the willingness to obtain one and will undergo a pre-employment medical.
