SalaryRandstad has partnered with an extremely successful leader in the Freight Forwarding industry. Our client is seeking an experienced Internal Customs Broker to join the team. The ideal candidate will have expertise in customs broking and import/export freight forwarding processes. This role plays a crucial part in ensuring compliance with customs regulations, facilitating the smooth movement of goods across borders, and providing exceptional service to our clients.
Responsibilities:
Customs Broking:
- Manage customs clearance processes for import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and laws.
- Prepare and submit accurate customs documentation, including import/export declarations, customs entry forms, and duty payments.
- Communicate with customs authorities to resolve any issues or queries related to shipments.
- Stay updated on changes in customs regulations and tariffs, providing guidance to internal teams and clients as needed.
Freight Forwarding Operations:
- Coordinate with internal teams to ensure seamless coordination of freight forwarding activities with customs clearance processes.
- Liaise with carriers, shipping lines, and other stakeholders to arrange transportation and logistics services for import and export shipments.
- Monitor the movement of goods throughout the transportation process, tracking shipments and addressing any delays or disruptions.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Maintain accurate records of customs documentation, including invoices, bills of lading, and certificates of origin.
- Verify the accuracy of commercial invoices, packing lists, and other shipping documents to ensure compliance with customs requirements.
- Conduct audits and internal reviews to ensure adherence to customs regulations and company policies.
Client Support and Communication:
- Serve as a point of contact for clients regarding customs clearance and freight forwarding inquiries.
- Provide timely updates on the status of shipments, customs clearance processes, and any potential issues or delays.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, addressing their needs and ensuring a high level of satisfaction with our services.
Continuous Improvement:
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in customs broking and freight forwarding operations.
- Collaborate with internal teams to implement best practices and streamline work-flows.
- Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in customs compliance and freight forwarding.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as a Customs Broker in the freight forwarding industry, with a strong understanding of customs regulations and procedures.
- Must have current Customs Broker licence to be considered.
- Thorough knowledge of import/export documentation requirements, including customs declarations, licenses, and permits.
- Proficiency in customs clearance software and electronic filing systems.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, customs authorities, and internal teams.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling customs documentation and data.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
- Certification as a Customs Broker or relevant qualifications preferred.
