Dairy Cattle Farmer

RH BOYD & SON PTY LTD : Shoalhaven Dairy Farm Position NSW Australia

We are seeking an experienced, motivated and responsible Dairy Cattle Farmer to join our Dairy Farming business which is in the Shoalhaven region on the south coast of NSW. 

Our farm is 2.5 hours south of Sydney on the south coast of NSW.

It is a Full-time position offering a salary of $60,000 - $80,000 plus Superannuation

The day to day duties of the dairy position require experience in the following:

• milk production 
• cow nutrition
• cow breeding 
• cow treatment
• dairy plant maintenance 
• calf rearing

The successful applicant will need to have the following skillset and be responsible for the following dairy farm duties: They will be able to:

• Supervise, maintain and improve protocols and procedures for milk harvesting and upgrade procedures as necessary.
• Be actively working in the rotary dairy, milking cows and following our dairy milking procedures., and adhering to Animal Welfare Codes
• Be involved with all dairy and cow yard procedures in order to maintain effective cow flow throughout different milking shifts
• Operate, monitor and maintain milking plant and machinery in the dairy 
• Work with senior staff + move dairy livestock on  farm to optimise feed opportunities
• Manage breeding selection of dairy herd for optimum production via Artificial Insemination and use of Cow-Manager program
• Liaise with vet to utilizing the required drugs for optimum health and breeding programs for dairy calves, dry cows, maternity and the milking herd. 
• Operate dairy software that records daily cow activity and data - DairyComp305,  Cow-Manager, Dairy ID, and other dairy herd programs.
• Have good written + verbal communication skills 
• Be able to work both independently and as part of a team 
• In time, train and supervise new staff in our dairy milking procedures

• The successful Dairy Candidate must have a Bachelor  Degree     AND

           a minimum of 3 YEARS Full-Time experience in the advertised DAIRY duties.
