We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Data Analyst at Perth Head Office, on a permanent full-time basis.


About this role


The Business Intelligence & Data Analytics Function is accountable for delivering analytical and insight services along with the management of business wide data to support Western Powers objectives through fit-for-purpose data.


As a Data Analyst you will have the opportunity to work with a diverse mix of business stakeholders to advise and build fit-for-purpose data solutions. This includes supporting the business to upskill to self-serve for themselves and to also design, build and deploy business intelligence reports, dashboards and visualisations.

We need your support to ensure appropriate techniques and tools are used to deliver solutions to the business they can use to generate insights that yield better & faster decisions, using data they can trust and understand.


To support and enable your work we have a team of data analysts, data engineers, data scientists and GIS specialists you will work alongside. In terms of strategic alignment of your work, we operate aligned to an enterprise data management framework, a future orientated digital capability strategy and deliver work via a hybrid environment of waterfall and agile delivery.


About you


You will ideally possess the following experience and attributes:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ technical experience, preferably in the energy industry, specialising in the provisioning of data, reporting governance and development of business solutions using Business Intelligence (BI) tools
  • Enjoy working with stakeholders to understand business needs and use cases to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and that they provide value when embedded into daily activities and business processes. Our current suite includes Qlik Sense, Power BI (both highly desirable) and/or Cognos (non-essential)
  • Work collaboratively to build on existing reporting systems ensuring the accuracy and integrity of data is maintained and aligned to our data governance framework and enterprise data strategy.
  • Commitment to the improvement of yourself, our team, data, systems and processes,
  • Embrace new technologies, approaches to work and contributing to innovation culture
  • Highly developed time management and multitasking skills
  • Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or Business-related discipline or an equivalent combination of relevant significant experience and/or education/trainingHighly developed time management and multitasking skills, with a proven commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Skills we would also be interested in

  • Experience using ETL tools. E.g. FME
  • ESRI Suite - geospatial products and tools
  • Programming Language. E.g. Python, SQL, SAS, R.
