We have partnered with a household name in the Telecoms industry and are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join our team at AJQ on a 3 months contract basis based in Sydney.
3 Days onsite per week.
About the role:
Reporting to the Team Lead as Data Engineer, you will be part of a technical team making sure new
developments meet high-quality standards.
We are looking for a motivated individual who understands and enjoys the DevOps way of life and have experience with Data Engineering technologies.
The role demands a strong technical background with exceptional analytical skills. We are looking for a self-starter with the ability to solve complex problems.
Communication skills are key as the role requires you to work closely with the aligned tech leads, Business, architecture, cybersecurity, cloud, and vendor stakeholders.
Your responsibilities will include, but not limited to:
- Development, customize and manage integration tools, databases, warehouses, and analytical systems with the use of data related instruments/instance
- Development of end-to-end data pipelines
- Deployment of ETL pipelines to production environments in cloud (AWS)
- Implementation and designing the architect of various ETL pipelines
- Testing, monitoring, and maintenance of existing pipelines
- Working closely with the business and technical teams to solve their problems and take the ownership of developing, deploying, and supporting the solutions
- Monitoring the overall performance and stability of the system. Adjust and adapt the automated pipeline as data/models/requirements change
- Make improvement and process recommendations that have an impact on the business
- Data Engineering experience (Hadoop, Airflow, Oozie, Pentaho)
- Scripting Knowledge (Python, Scala, PowerShell, Linux Shell scripting, Splunk)
- Database experience (SQL Server)
- Experience in Risk Management and applying risk mindset in day-to-day activities
- Experience working in distributed teams
- Hands on technical person able to triage defects across environment, integration & code
- Ability to work with different project teams (across environment, integration & development) and bring cohesiveness across the teams to focus on diagnosing defects
It will be great if you have:
- Automation experience (Selenium web driver or equivalent)
- CI-CD experience (Bamboo, Gradle, git/bitbucket, Artifactory, uDeploy)
- Confident working with Atlassian suite e.g. JIRA, Confluence, Bitbucket, etc.
- Experience implementing and maintaining a vendor application
