The Data Privacy, Ethics and Governance (DPEG) team is accountable for developing and implementing the Group Data Privacy, Ethics and Governance approach, including the policies, procedures and standards required to ensure a consistent, coordinated and compliant approach to data across the Group.
As a DPEG Manager, you will be the DPEG focal for a Group business unit or entity. You will be tasked with working with stakeholders in the commercial, IT, Cyber and Legal teams to conduct Privacy Impact Assessments on projects, as well as assisting with the implementation of robust Data Privacyand Governance processes across the Group.
You will need to be conformable addressing privacy-related queries from the business, understand the Information Classification Standards and its relationship with privacy controls, and champion Data Privacy across the Qantas Group.
You will be responsible for creating and updating data-related standards, procedures and processes, and ensuring they are cascaded across the Group. You will also contribute to the Group data risk management processes, especially those related to personal information. Alongside other members of the DPEG team, you will work to uplift the Group-wide data culture and capabilities in relation to privacy and data protection compliance obligations.
This executive role is a great opportunity for someone who wants to further their skills in Data Privacyand Governance, by taking a lead role in identifying and managing operational risks related to data, while also helping in shaping our strategic approach.
You’ll have –
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a data-related field, preferably with a focus on privacy and data protection
- Relevant tertiary education, preferably with post-graduate qualification
- Privacy qualifications from the international Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) or equivalent are desirable (e.g. CIPM, CIPP/E)
- Demonstrated knowledge of privacy and data protection laws and regulations (Australia & International) and industry standards and frameworks (e.g. Privacy by Design, ISO27701)
- Strong risk management skills, with the ability to identify, communicate risks and solutions
- Strong stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated experience in developing Data Privacy and ethics training and education sessions
- Effective time management skills with an ability to prioritise department tasks while working on multiple projects
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
