- Data Program Manager role, 18 months contract within UNSW IT
- Kensington based, Hybrid working environment
UNSW IT is part of the Operations Division at UNSW. The IT team at UNSW plays a critical role in enabling the University’s teaching, research and industry engagement. Our priorities are to drive innovative technology architectures and be a trusted advisor and service partner to the University to enable its ambitious digital aspirations.
The Consolidated Data Program contains multiple critical Programs in Data Remediation, Transformation, and Migration. The Data Program Manager role has responsibility for the overall successful delivery of this program, ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and delivery of high quality outcomes.
The Data Program Manager reports to the Head of Project Delivery and has 3 direct reports including 3 Project Managers, and may vary with program needs moving forward.
Accountabilities
- Review scope across projects with a view to identify synergies and implement changes as required
- Manage Program governance over the projects in the program, ensuring adherence to UNSW ITPMO delivery standards
- Bringing business owners/stakeholders together to ensure decisions made are beneficial to the overall program and changes to project(s) are understood. Drive decision making with Business owners via the correct forums to facilitate and maintain program delivery momentum.
- Responsible for the overall quality and delivery of the Program and aligning with key deadlines
- Manage and close out key program/project dependencies and milestone achievement
- Manage and close out program/project risks and issues – identify, agree and deliver on priorities and mitigating actions
- Manage the program’s delivery resources including on-boarding and capacity planning
- Lead a thriving and effective team - including developing, managing and engaging team members and driving a strong customer centric culture
- Support direct reports and wider team through coaching/mentoring and providing support for Senior Leaders who have delivery resources within their domain
- Align with and actively demonstrate the UNSW Values in Action: Our Behaviours and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
- Cooperate with all health and safety policies and procedures of the university and take all reasonable care to ensure that your actions or omissions do not impact on the health and safety of yourself or others.
- 5 years Demonstrated program delivery experience across large scale programs or portfolios
- A demonstrated understanding of data policy management, and data privacy
- Proven experience delivering records management transformation programs
- Proven delivery experience in large data migration programs
- Strong ability to influence outcomes and an excellent ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships at all levels of an organisation, including Directors and Executives
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organisational skills with a proven ability to build relationships within a multi-disciplinary team
- Effective leadership and people management skills, a demonstrated ability to develop and build high performing teams, as well as create an engaged and solution focused work culture
- Demonstrated high level negotiation and problem-solving skills and proven capacity to exercise initiative, flexibility and to be proactive in respect of objectives and project management
- Proven experience in risk management and the ability to pre-empt and solve problems
- Sound understanding and knowledge of the tertiary education sector, trends and challenges desirable, but not required
- Excellent skills in planning and prioritising activities with the ability to pivot to manage multiple tasks, establish priorities and meet strict and/or tight deadlines in a complex environment
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to work systematically to quickly understand complex business and systems, anticipate implications, to identify and advise on fit-for-purpose delivery approaches and deliverables
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to write concisely and persuasively to a wide range of audiences
- An understanding of and commitment to UNSW’s aims, objectives and values in action, together with relevant policies and guidelines.
- Knowledge of health and safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant health and safety training
