Employment Type: Full time (35 hours per week)
Duration: 12-month contract
Remuneration: Level 7 $106,351 - $115,103 (depending on experience) + 17% super + leave loading
Location: Kensington, NSW (hybrid working)

Why Your Role Matters:
The Data Risk Management Project (DRMP) is being undertaken by UNSW to mitigate Data Risks identified across the University for priority action.
The Data Risk & Assurance Officer is responsible for developing and implementing Data Risk management and assurance-related functions to support successful delivery of the DRMP.
The Data Risk & Assurance Officer reports to the Data & Information Governance Manager and has no direct reports.
Responsibilities:
Promote and support a culture of effective Data Risk management by conducting Data Risk assessments and evaluations and providing advice on diverse Data Risk-related issues.
Assist in the development of Data Risk analysis, management and compliance frameworks.
Maintain Data Risk management and compliance frameworks.
Identify and analyse Data Risk and quantify uncertainty to measure its magnitude on the DRMP and UNSW.
Formulate Data Risk management actions.
Review the Data Risk assessments periodically to ensure they include all potential Data Risks.
Provide ongoing management of Data Risk registers, Data Risk criteria, guides, and templates.
Work with the Data & Information Governance Manager to understand and provide support in respect of data sharing agreements and related compliance.
Assist in the development and adoption of data quality management practices at UNSW.
Contribute to the development of related policies, procedures, and other documentation.
Support the delivery of internal audit actions as they relate to data and information governance, including maintaining action registers and providing advice on Data Risks.
Prepare management reports, including reports on the performance of Data Risk management and internal controls.
Prepare agendas, minutes and meeting papers and presentations for Project Steering Committee, Technical Advisory Group, and Business Advisory Group meetings as required. Also provide coordination and quality review of papers.
Consult and work collaboratively with key stakeholders.
Who You Are:
Relevant tertiary qualification with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering Data Risk or technical/business risk management plans.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining risk registers, criteria and guides.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
Ability to work in a highly adaptable and consultative manner, working in a collaborative way to deliver the best outcomes.
Excellent time management and organisational skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities, manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team, but also to function effectively and independently with the capacity to take responsibility, exercise judgement and proactively address and resolve problems as they arise.
Previous experience in the higher education sector is desired.
