In this role you will have the opportunity to work closely with technology and business Product Owners alongside infrastructure and service delivery peers.
Responsibilities
- Install, configure, and maintain SQL database systems to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues and tune for optimal efficiency.
- Implement and maintain database security protocols and access controls.
- Ensure data integrity, security, and availability through regular backups and disaster recovery planning.
- Write and optimize SQL queries for efficient data retrieval and manipulation.
- Tune database configurations and indexes to improve query performance and response times.
- Manage reporting databases and data warehouses to support business intelligence and analytics initiatives.
- Utilise PowerBI to create insightful and actionable reports for stakeholders.
- Design, Build and code solutions which are consistent, well documented, and open to utilizing the Azure platform and Terraform IAC tooling.
- Work with the broader organisation to ensure that the platform meets governance and compliance requirements.
- Be cost efficient and ensure that asset owners have access to accurate and timely data.
- Support any platform incidents and work to improve the platform to prevent such incidents in future.
- Ensure that any newly implemented solutions are well documented and able to be supported and easily understood by the team.
- Work closely with key stakeholders across the organisation and third parties to achieve defined business outcomes.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and/or certification in SQL Server administration (e.g., Microsoft Certified Database Administrator, Azure Cloud Certifications) is preferred.
- Proven experience as a SQL Database Administrator or similar role
- Knowledge of SQL Server tools including SSIS
- Strong proficiency in SQL with the ability to write complex queries and stored procedures.
- 5 years’ experience in Shell/Scripting – PowerShell preferred.
- 3 years’ experience with IaC – Terraform / Ansible preferred.
- 5 years’ experience with Critical Incident Response Management, Process planning, stakeholder engagement, post incident reviews, DR/BCP design, planning and execution
- Familiarity with performance tuning and optimisation
- Understanding of database security best practices and data protection regulations
