About the role
We are seeking a DC Operations Manager to join our team! The primary objective of the DC Operations Manager is to be a proactive problem solver, able to engage the right stakeholders to review, ideate and optimise all aspects of operations across our DC. Supporting the DC Manager(s) to deliver daily objectives, fast track operations, optimise systems and processes, this position will drive strategic initiatives, lead projects to completion, partner with senior leaders across multiple departments, and ensure operational excellence across all our DC’s.

Our Distribution Centre (DC) teams are motivated and enthusiastic individuals who work tirelessly to support the seamless operation of our warehousing activities at Directed Group. With locations in Melbourne, Perth, and Auckland, our DC teams play a vital role in enabling not just our retail and technology functions, but also ensuring the satisfaction of our direct customers and the success of our retail channels.
How you will make an impact
The DC Operations Manager will be a hands-on leader and an enabler for change, leading optimisation and strategy, insights and analytics, OH&S and workforce planning. This will include:
- developing a DC operations strategy that captures effective space planning, workforce planning/labour modelling, OH&S standards, processes and workflows to meet the demands of the business.
- being the primary point of contact for DC related metrics and insights, managing communication to all relevant stakeholders and assisting the DC Manager with urgent tasks and projects that enable the timely processing of all orders.
- defining and continuously evolving metrics to ensure DC’s are operating with insight and purpose to deliver on business objectives.
- to partner with Sales teams, Finance, Demand Planning and Executives to develop forecasts that translate to DC operational requirements in conjunction with the DC Manager.
- partnering with multiple teams to scope and deliver projects, managing communication and change.
- reviewing and optimising systems and applications to provide accurate data and reporting.
- driving a culture of safety and compliance, reviewing best practices and updating policies and procedures as needed.
- developing an ongoing learning and development program to ensure all staff are trained, inducted, and operating with OH&S best practices.
The successful candidate
Our successful candidate will demonstrate being a team player, who works well with a DC Manager understands the value of collaboration, working in a dynamic team and having great communication skills. Additionally, you will demonstrate:
- 5+ years’ experience in a similar operations role; both supporting DC Manager’s for daily delivery and strategically defining necessary metrics, SOP's, best practices and ways of working.
- an in depth understanding of DC operations e.g. inventory control, staff, systems, automation, processes, safety, reporting and commercial management.
- leading and delivering projects; managing estimation, documentation, and implementing change.
- driving cost analysis to identify areas for improving efficiency and cost reduction.
- leading labour modelling for 30+ staff to ensure the right staffing resources are available as needed.
- effective space planning to support peak periods, new product launches and customers etc.
- working with finance, sales and supply chain teams to provide forecasting to an executive team.
- strong knowledge of WMS and other warehouse systems, hardware and equipment.
- a confident and outgoing personality to proactively engage and follow up with a variety of stakeholders.
