Job description

The Department of Health is seeking a visionary leader to serve as Deputy Chief Information Officer. As the right hand to the CIO, you'll play a vital role in strategic leadership, overseeing the planning, development, support and management of our information systems.

About the role

The Deputy Chief Information Officer:

  • Is responsible for providing strategic leadership in planning, developing, implementing, and managing information systems within the Department of Health.
  • Leads well over 100 staff in the Digital Technology Services Group (DTSG) to ensure smooth support and operation of information systems and technologies across the state, encompassing internal and external ICT services.
  • Builds effective business partnerships for the Health ICT Division, negotiating strategic requirements, and managing relationships with stakeholders to achieve positive cultural and business results.
  • Develops and manages the operational components of the Health ICT budget efficiently and cost-effectively, ensuring resources are allocated to support business objectives.

A desirable requirement of the role is relevant IT industry experience, a degree or tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and a Current Driver’s Licence.

About the Team

Health ICT provides business technology leadership for the Department and leads the broad IT and information function to achieve and support business objectives and provide optimal customer experience. We provide strategic leadership in the planning, development, implementation, and management of both clinical and non-clinical information systems, and information and communication technologies to enable the delivery of safe, effective, and high quality integrated patient and client care

Across the Department, the teams and people within the Digital Technology Services Group provide strategic and business advice, deliver support services across a wide range of systems and functions, maintain and develop ICT infrastructure, and support Programs and Projects.

Appointment

The role is a Senior Executive office for a contract period of 5 years and offers an attractive remuneration package, which incorporates salary ranging from $173,328 to $190,558 p.a. plus 11% superannuation and private use of a fully maintained vehicle.
