About the Role
Representing the Chief Officer, the position of Deputy Chief Officer (DCO) Operational Doctrine & Training is a critical role that ensures the effective and consistent development and deployment of the CFA training and doctrine across all regions in line with CFA, AFAC and Emergency Management Victoria Guidelines.
The DCO Operational Doctrine & Training provides the vision, direction and leadership to guide the appropriate behaviours and skills in line with the Doctrine and business requirements whilst developing the training and skills packages required to maintain and strengthen the capacity and capability of our members.
As a member of the leadership team, the Deputy Chief Officer will actively participate in the strategic development of the organisation, provide leadership and foster collaboration across all Directorates, Regions, Districts, Groups and Brigades, be available or on call with the expectation to attend to critical matters at any time, and act with the utmost professionalism, integrity and trust as guided by our values.
About You
We are seeking an accomplished leader, distinguished by a wealth of experience in emergency management, specifically within the context of fire. The ideal candidate will possess a degree and potentially post-graduate qualifications in pertinent disciplines such as Emergency Management or Adult Education, indicative of their commitment to excellence.
Beyond academic credentials, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are paramount. The successful candidate will adeptly engage with both the community and key stakeholders, showcasing the ability to effectively advocate to influential figures, including the Chief Officer, CEO, and executive team.
This role requires a comprehensive strategic background encompassing policy, regulatory, and legislative processes. Ideally, this expertise should be garnered from service in the public sector or private industry. The chosen candidate will excel in formulating and implementing strategies and policies, proving instrumental in driving substantial change.
A profound commitment to and comprehension of volunteerism and its associated culture is imperative. Additionally, robust financial acumen and mastery of budget management are prerequisites. The role further demands a demonstrated track record in developing capabilities and designing/delivering training programs within a rigorously regulated, intricate, and demanding environment, such as VRQA/ASQA.
