The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join the office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and Senior Vice-President (DVCR) and help shape the research landscape at Monash University.

As the Deputy Director, Research Missions and Impact, you will collaborate closely with Monash's ten faculties, central Institutes and Centres, and across our international campus network to embed impact into processes and practices, as well as to support our research community to identify, scope and secure programmatic, mission-oriented initiatives and associated funding.

Applying your high level specialist skills, you will lead all aspects of projects, including stakeholder communications and expectations on research strategy planning, design and implementation to meet the University’s strategic objectives. Leveraging your exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, you will play a pivotal role in the formation and functioning of cross-organisation teams with high-level and strategic business development expertise, bringing together like-minded partners and donors to fund consortium challenge-led mission-oriented programs of research in Australia and across the Indo-Pacific, in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Essential to this role is exceptional management and leadership skills with the proven ability to strategically manage and provide authoritative technical and policy advice at the highest levels, as well as the demonstrated ability to work cooperatively and strategically in a cross-functional environment with all levels of staff. In addition, the successful candidate will have highly developed planning and project management skills, with experience in establishing priorities, allocating resources and a record of on-time delivery of project outputs.

Diversity is one of our greatest strengths at Monash. We encourage applications from Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, culturally and linguistically diverse people, people with disabilities, neurodiverse people, and people of all genders, sexualities, and age groups.

Be part of our story. Work with us to #ChangeIt.

Monash avidly supports flexible and hybrid working arrangements. We have a range of policies in place enabling staff to combine work and personal commitments. This includes supporting parents.

Your employment is contingent upon the satisfactory completion of all pre-employment and/or background checks required for the role, as determined by the University.

For instructions on how to apply, please refer to 'How to apply for Monash Jobs'.

While we don’t require you to separately address the Key Selection Criteria in your application, we do ask that within your cover letter you highlight your experience working across an organisation to coherently design and deliver new projects and initiatives at scale.
