Your teamThe Legal Services Team is responsible for the delivery of Legal Services across ASIC and is instrumental in driving ASIC's reputation as a modern and effective regulator and enforcement authority.Legal Services is led by the General Counsel, Executive Director and comprises the following teams: Enforcement Legal Services, Regulatory Legal Services, Corporate Legal Services, the Hearing Delegates Panel, and the Legal Operations Team.The Corporate Legal Services Team comprises two teams of Corporate Legal Services lawyers and the Information & Data Law Team.Corporate Legal Services is expected to couple legal expertise with a contemporary approach to the delivery of Legal Services, including through the embrace of continual improvement, innovation, building efficient capability and the use of technology to optimise execution.The roleAs Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Legal Services, you will lead the Legal Services team responsible for the delivery of Legal Services and management of legal issues to support ASIC as a body corporate, the Chair/Accountable Authority, the Commission and ASIC staff to comply with their legal obligations.About youWe are looking for someone with the capacity to lead senior and experienced teams of lawyers across a diversity of areas supporting a sophisticated entity, whether that be a private sector corporate entity, or corporate or non-corporate Commonwealth entity.You'll need legal experience at General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel or equivalent role in a government agency or private sector organisation, along with experience in complex Corporate Legal matters whether directly or through management of a team.Your strong management, leadership, interpersonal and relationship building skills will ensure your success in this role.About ASICASIC's remit is one of the broadest of regulators across the world.ASIC regulates corporations, markets, financial services and consumer credit, and monitors and promotes market integrity and consumer protection in the Australian financial system.Through our enforcement and regulatory work, we hold to account those who contravene the law, working to achieve strong outcomes that address the greatest consumer and investor harms.Through Moneysmart, we aim to improve the skills and knowledge of Australians and provide information and tools to help them in their financial decision making.A future with ASIC means that your work will contribute to achieving ASIC's vision for a fair, strong, and efficient financial system for all Australians.ASIC is committed to a providing a diverse and inclusive workplace where the very best talent in Australia chooses to work.
