Deputy Head of Junior School (Students)

Toowoomba Grammar School is looking to appoint an experienced and passionate Deputy Head of Junior School (Students) to commence in Term 3, 2024 (negotiable).

The Deputy Head of Junior School (Students) has a central responsibility to lead, enhance and coordinate all aspects of Junior School pastoral care inclusive of the character and wellbeing program, positive behaviours for learning, House system, student leadership and service, camps and supporting the daily organisation of the Junior School and co-curricular programs.

About Toowoomba Grammar School

Toowoomba Grammar School was founded in 1875 and is a member school of the Great Public Schools Association of Queensland (GPS).  It is an independent non-denominational day and boarding school for boys with a total enrolment of close to 1,200 from Preparatory to Year 12.  There are approximately 300 boarders in the School coming predominantly from throughout Queensland, Northern New South Wales and the Northern Territory.  The School’s campus covers 20.5 hectares and is located one kilometre from the centre of Toowoomba.

About the Position

Reporting to the Headmaster, through the Head of Junior School, this position plays a pivotal role within the School's educational framework.

The successful candidate will possess a distinguished track record in educational leadership, particularly in fostering the pastoral development and wellbeing of students within a primary school context.

Key responsibilities encompass strategic planning aligned with the school's vision, leadership of Junior School pastoral care. This portfolio is inclusive of the character and wellbeing program, positive behaviours for learning, House system, student leadership and service, camps, supporting the daily organisation of the Junior School and co-curricular, community engagement, and adherence to statutory obligations and school policies.

The successful candidate will have tertiary qualifications in education, supplemented by postgraduate qualifications in education or leadership.
