The Learning Communities will bring together students, academics, clinical teachers and professional staff to provide an academic home where students learn from each other and are supported to thrive as they develop as a medical professional across the MD program.The Deputy Head of Learning CommunityYear 2 will contribute to the establishment and continual development of the Learning Community environment in a manner that promotes inclusivity and a sense of belonging for students and staff with the primary focus on providing a mutually supportive environment to allow medical students to flourish.Key responsibilities will include:Teaching: Be an effective and professional role model for studentsProvide high quality academic leadership to the provision of Year 2 learning experiences and assessment across the Learning Community. This includes academic guidance, remediation, pastoral care, career guidance and extension activities for students.Provide academic leadership to student progression.Research: Maintain personal academic standing, including the pursuit of research and scholarship.Review and draw upon best practice research methodologies.Supervision and Researcher Development: Lead the facilitation of engagement in research opportunities for students.Provide supervision of employees by providing effective feedback, coaching, and professional development.Citizenship and Service: Contribute proactively and respectfully to the RCU and Learning CommunityThis is a clinical academic position. Further information can be found by viewing UQ’s .This is a part-time (40%), fixed-term position through to 31st December 2025At Academic level C. The full-time equivalent base salary will be in the range $132,201 - $152,202, plus a generous super allowance of up to 17%. The total FTE package will be up to $154,676 - $178,076 annually. As this role is covered by an Enterprise Agreement, you will also receive regular remuneration increases – at least once a year.The greater of joining the UQ community are broad: from being part of a university, to recognition of prior service with other Australian universities, up to 26 weeks of paid parental leave, 17.5% annual leave loading, flexible working arrangements including hybrid on site/WFH options and flexible start/finish times, and genuine career progression opportunities via the academic promotions process.About YouMedical qualification and eligibility for registration as a medical practitioner in Australia, with a specialist or general practice qualification permitting specialist registration with AHPRA.An established profile in clinical teaching.Expert knowledge and experience in a general or specialist clinical capacity, including evidence of knowledge of current education best practise.Evidence of a substantial senior contribution to quality clinical teaching at undergraduate postgraduate and/or professional entry level.Experience in undertaking or facilitating research or scholarship of teaching and learning.A record of contribution to the supervision of medical studentsAbility to establish effective relationships and to represent and promote the UQRCS within hospitals and health care facilities at a university level and in the wider community including professional bodies.High level communication and interpersonal skills for working with students, colleagues, and the wider community.A commitment to and an understanding of the issues surrounding, living, and working in a rural and/or regional area.In addition, the following mandatory requirements apply:Work Rights: You must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
