About the roleWe are seeking a people-focused leader with extensive pastoral care experience to be a key member of our Senior School Leadership Team (SSLT). Reporting to the Head of Senior School, you will play an important role in the lives of our senior students (Year 10 - 12) by providing pastoral care, and strategic and operational leadership in the Senior School.
This is a permanent, full-time position, commencing Semester 2 2024.
Key responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership and Management
- Role model continuous improvement and the pursuit of excellence in the Senior School.
- Actively promote and contribute to the achievement of the College’s Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan.
Pastoral Care Leadership and Management
- In collaboration with members of the SSLT, monitor students’ behaviour, uniform and appearance.
- Oversee information gathering and advise members of the SSLT and escalate to the Head of Senior School as required.
- Foster strong relationships and maintain communication with parents/guardians.
- Work with Student Protection Officers to create conditions in the Senior School that reduce the likelihood of harm to children and increase the likelihood of identifying harm.
- Work within our student wellbeing programs to maintain appropriate discipline standards for students and report to the Head of Senior School all matters pertaining to student wellbeing.
Operational Leadership and Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Senior School in collaboration with the Head of Senior School and other members of the SSLT.
- Assist with the organisation of Senior School functions e.g., Valedictory function, Year 11 Dinner Dance, Senior School Presentation Night.
- Organise minor House competitions as required and assist in the running of major House activities.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications.
- Demonstrated ability to build positive and cooperative relationships with students, parents and colleagues by being an effective communicator with the ability to handle interpersonal relationships judiciously, empathetically, and assertively when needed.
- Experience with wellbeing issues associated with the age and stage of Senior School students.
- Experience teaching Senior subjects coupled with the ability to implement effective learning and teaching strategies.
- Knowledge of QCAA policies and procedures about the Senior Phase of Schooling and the Australian Curriculum Guidelines.
- Capacity to demonstrate a commitment to the College’s Co-curricular and Extra-curricular programs, particularly the coaching of sporting teams, attendance at camps and support of various out-of-hours functions.
- Commitment to the Anglican ethos of the College.
- Possession of a higher degree (Master’s or Doctorate) in Leadership, Counselling, Pastoral Care or related discipline would be viewed favourably.
